A live photo wall is one of those touches that feels expensive and complicated but isn't either. As guests upload photos, they appear on a big screen in real time — and the moment someone sees their shot go up, the whole room wants in. Here's how to set one up with gear you almost certainly already have.
What you need
- A screen: a TV, a projector, or even a laptop propped where people can see it.
- A way to open a web browser on that screen — a smart TV, a laptop connected by HDMI, or a streaming stick.
- Your event's live wall page (from a platform that offers one).
- Wi-Fi or a decent cellular connection for the screen.
That's it. No app, no dedicated hardware, no AV company.
Step by step
- Set up your event and turn on photo sharing. The live wall pulls from the same photos guests upload.
- Open the live wall page on the screen's browser. On a smart TV, use the built-in browser; on a projector, connect a laptop and open the page full-screen.
- Put it in full-screen mode so there's no browser clutter — just the photos.
- Test it before guests arrive. Upload a photo from your phone and watch it appear. If it shows up, you're done.
- Point guests to the QR code. Table cards and a quick announcement — "Share your photos and watch them appear on the screen" — are all it takes.
Where to place the screen
- Near the dance floor or the main gathering space, where people naturally look up.
- High enough to be seen over a crowd.
- Away from harsh direct light if you're using a projector.
Tips for a lively wall
- Seed it early. Ask a couple of guests to upload the first few photos so the screen isn't empty when people first look.
- Announce it once, clearly. Most guests just need to know it exists and how to add to it.
- Let it run. The wall gets better as the night goes; don't fuss with it.
Why it works
A live wall does something subtle: it turns photo sharing from a chore into a game. Guests aren't uploading into a void — they're contributing to something everyone can see, right now. That visibility is exactly why live-wall events end up with dramatically more photos than events without one.
Put your guests' photos on the big screen
Turn on the live wall and open it on any TV or projector. Guests upload with one scan and watch their photos appear in real time — no app, no special hardware.
